Our
church exists to help people know God's Son, fellowship with God's
people, worship in God's church, grow in God's grace and serve
in God's world.
MISSION
STATEMENT
Grace
Reformed Presbyterian Church vision is to walk by faith to make
disciples of Jesus Christ in Relay, MD, the surrounding communities
and beyond. By God’s grace, we want to be a congregation
of at least 400 people, where people know God’s Son, fellowship
with God’s people, worship in God’s church, grow
in God’s grace, and serve in God’s world; and to
have planted at least two healthy reformed churches, sent out
two short-term and two long-term missionaries by the end of
the year 2009. To God be the Glory .
GRPC
governing structure is made of two bodies, the Session and the
Board of Deacons. The Pastor, the Elders, and the Deacons are
elected by GRPC's membership.
THE
SESSION
The
Session is the ruling body of the local church. The Session
is made up of elected Ruling Elders and the Teaching Elders
or Pastors. The primary responsibility of the Session is the
spiritual oversight, or "shepherding" of the congregation.
It is responsible for all ministries of the church and to help
ensure that they are faithfully carrying out the Word ministry
of Christ. Each member of the Session is assigned to provide
oversight of the organized ministries and activities of the
church.
THE
BOARD OF DEACONS
The Board of Deacons is responsible for the administration of
the church. The office of Deacon is one of sympathy and service,
after the example of the Lord Jesus. The duty of the Deacons
is to encourage the congregation to fulfill its joint duty,
to minister to the needy, to the sick, to the friendless, and
to those in distress. The Deacons are also charged with the
responsibility of caring for the property of the congregation.
The Board of Deacons is under the supervision and guidance of
the Session.
