OUR
MISSION

Our mission is to help people know God's Son, to fellowship with God's people, to grow in God's grace, to worship in God's church, and to serve in God's world.

OUR VISION

By God's grace we aim to pass on our Christian faith to the next generation, and to substantially increase our involvement in missions.

GOVERNMENT

GRPC is a member of the Chesapeake Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America. The church governing structure is made of two bodies, the Session and the Board of Deacons.

THE SESSION

The Session is the ruling body of our Church. It consists of the ruling elders and teaching elders (pastors). The primary responsibility of the Session is the spiritual oversight, or shepherding of our congregation. It is responsible for all ministries of our Church, and it helps to ensure that each of them is faithfully carrying out the Word ministry of Christ. Each member of the Session is assigned oversight of specific organized ministries and activities. Ruling elders are elected at the annual meeting of our Church members. The pastor (teaching elder) is called by a special meeting of our Church members.

THE BOARD OF DEACONS

The Board of Deacons is responsible for the administration of our Church. The office of Deacon is one of sympathy and service, after the example of the Lord Jesus. The duty of the Deacons is to encourage our congregation to fulfill its joint duty, to minister to the needy, to the sick, to the friendless, and to those in distress. The Deacons are also charged with the responsibility of caring for the property of our congregation. The Board of Deacons is under the supervision and guidance of the Session. The deacons are elected at the annual meeting of the members of our Church.
